I think there is another option you might wish to guage - how many people who haven't played/DMed Scarred Lands but want to.

And then there's the option: How many have no intention of playing/DMing a Scarred Lands game but buy the books to loot ideas from.

What do you find silly about the Scarred lands?

Well firstly let me preface by saying my favorite publisher of d20 materials is SSS..... :)

I'm not interested in the plot, fallen gods and all that....
Karnival Krewe? I lived in New Orleans, no thank you..
Angsnt ridden role-playing... no thanks either
Art? well art doesn't really matter much to me, but i tend to view the art as hand-in-hand with the angst bit...
A sea of blood? um... come on...

and to dig the biggest hole out off them all.... :)

I think its the first real 3E setting and it falls prey to alot of the 3E mentality. (read this as i'm an old-timer) ie. it

basically its not my style. this is not to say i dont appreciate what they're doing, i do and i voted for them as my fav d20 publisher on a vote here once because they're supporting a whole other type of gaming that i'm not interested in.

Also, this is my opinion, which like a butt, everyone has. like my butt you're not going to change it and like my butt it's just about as important.. :) I'm not trying to yell my opinions to the mountains here, just saying what i think so not interested in flames. not from you crothian, from others.. :)

Well you're entitled to your opinion jbrowning. I think you're wrong but hey still entitled. :)

Personally I like the setting just FOR the elements you descripted. Basically it proves that not all druids are these nice earthy types or even that they might eco-terrorists. It also goes about making the difference between arcane and divine magics more palable and understandable. But again, these are just my own opinions.

thats why i like SSS for making the scarred lands. though i dont like it, i like the fact that it provides a world that people want to play in.

the more gamers, the better :)

Indeed jbrowning, indeed. :) So does that mean you might be picking up the Player's Guides S&SS is doing? First one is slated for Feburary of 2003. 160 pages worth of magical goodness (since it's using the three arcane spellcasting classes, wizards, bards and sorcerers)

Actually didn't know about them... are they for scarred lands characters or for characters in general?

i usually dont pick up splat books as i tend to just run games that are the three core books only and the ones i pick up i just read through to see if there's any ideas i can mine.

edit:nevermind, just found the thread and reading.. i'll edit again with a real answer for ya!

edit2: i probably won't pick them up... im a bit saturated with add-ons and i'm writing my own book right now so what time i do have away from the game i spend typing on this board :) or just goof'en off.
