Yes, I realize it, but with all the stuff available to players I also know how easy it is to get around this... They are supposed to be weak casters. I am thinking of altering thier spell lists to have more duration type spells, things they cast before going into battle, things with duration in tens of minutes or hours...I know durations got shorter in 3.5 but I think there are still some spells that could be good. I don't really think of them as primary casters, or even secondary casters; they are tertiary casters, like arcane paladins, but dark, and not at all paladiny...

You could just rule all their spells Extended...
And what are you planning to do about the SR?
An ability which turns obsolete at level 19 by itself is kind of pointless (level 19, SR 20, primary caster beats SR 100% of the time)
Seriously, you should reconsider, maybe make them use medium armor... but heavy armor and ASF... really, who'd take their chances with a mithril fullplate?
(50% - 20% + 10%= 40% ASF... anythin is better than knowing you have 40% or more chances to make your turn's standard action futile)

Well there SR is essentially supposed to be effective against secondary casters but not so much primary ones, so it will still do that. I put it up here so I could get some ideas for how to make it better. I'm getting some, so this working. See their primary opponents will be these paladin-esque divinate guys who are secondary casters. I also wrote this way way back when so it's in need of revision, thus putting it up here...I really want them to have a weaker SR but I'm still vascilating on how. I don't really like the method of calculating it one way early then a different way at higher level. What if I make it 10 + (PrC Level x 2). Then it still starts off weak but progressively catches up to full SR by the end., But then the mechanic for thier SR becoming ASF becomes even more restrictive....hrmm...Of course if I make the preeqs harder I could then allow them heavy armor casting but then keep the SR is ASF part which would make thier ASf still a factor.... What do you think?
