Scholar and Noble suggestions?

I am planning on a very low/alt.magic campaign inspired by Planetary Romance. Sources available are mainly for modern or Grim Tales and I dont want to go that way. Nor do I want to use Star Wars Saga (at least not as is, I am going to borrow heavilly from it, but to simplify things am not going to use Talent trees). For classes I am going with only those w/o magic or supernatural abilities. Right now that means I have Barbarian, Fighter, Rogue, and Scout - all of which will get some tweaking.

I want both a social skill and influenced based class and a more academic skill user to round out the set. Anyone have any suggestions for a Noble/social class or a Scholar/academic class? Right now I have the Noble from SAGA and the Noble from Conan which I can use as a base, but if anyone else already has some suggestions I would love to hear them.

The Nobel is a terribly difficult prize to earn, but if you have the drive and intellectual capability, go for it! You'll be doing humanity a great service!

It's pretty much been done for you. I know you don't want to use talent tree's but you can pick and choose from the talents and make them into class features.

Check out Wheel of Time d20. It's non-magical classes (all but two) are designed to be played in a setting where magic items are rare, and it has a noble class.

I like the full BAB version.

I second eschwenke's Wheel of Time D20 suggestion. It's a good book all around in addition to the the non-magic classes.

Also, you may want to check out some of Avalanche Press' supplements. They did a bunch of them based on real historical periods and some with magic and some with low magic. I recall they had a non spell casting Priest class in their Pirates supplement. These should be going cheap on Ebay and the like.
