According to Wikipedia, they've given the go to look for directors for the first three Season 2 episodes but no official word as to whether or not the show is cancelled has been forthcomng.

Yeah, I know about Wikipedia. I recall an article in which it a FOX rep said that they wouldn't announce their full lineup until May. That was back in March. I thought to myself "Are they really going to keep us in the dark so long about Terminator when the other networks are making their official announcements?" Looks like they are. Damn them. :(

I actually think the Whedon show will last this time around - maybe not 2 seasons, but the whole season. Why? DVD sales. Fox made a lot of money off the Firefly dvds, which is probably why they wanted him to do another show.

Virtuality: Holodeck-vibe. I can see that Ron Moore can put some serious spin on hat concept, but I cannot see more than a single film revolving around that - or perhaps a smaller season... but more? I just hope it doesn't end in a mid-cliffhanger cancellation.

Fringe: I've seen too much of these to be really enthusiastic. They may be able to pull it off, it could become watchable. But I also see stuff like eternal plot arcs (aka Lost), which turns me off a bit.

Dollhouse: Whedon. He's good. This will definitively become something with a very distinct style - which will make it at least interesting to watch. If it can keep going - I dunno.

Boldly Going Nowhere: Let's see if this will engaging AND funny (like Discworld books) or just annoying.

Cheers, LT.

I'm with those that are hapy to see new sci-fi, but worried about the network.

Yeah. Fox has had a crappy record with any sort of sci fi shows. I'll be shocked if any of those make it a full season.

If the current popular TV shows are any judge, these shows will have to be really stupid and completely lacking in creativity to survive on network TV.

Josh Whedon? Uh-oh, the Dark Side is on the rise. :]

Anyway, I got a big red flag from "FOX". Given their history of Sci-Fi TV, the only one that's likely to survive is one that I can't stand Like their last big Sci-Fi series, the X-Files. Come to think of it, I was never a fan of any of the Sci-Fi stuff they offered except for Brisco County Jr.

Why berate these shows for lack of originality? I mean, BSG was popular with a lot of folks, and it was a remake of a TV show that was a knock-off a movie. Very ambitious things can come out of seemingly unoriginal premises.

So, there's been reports recently about how watching video online is starting to pick up in a big way. Perhaps someone at some network will put forth the notion that if you really want to snare the cyberspace audience, shows that skew to the sci-fi crowd could have a major edge.
