Scoop on D20 Future

Yeah, the quote is from Rodney "Moridin" Thompson (webmaster of SWRPGNetwork, co-author of Star Wars Hero's Guide) and the "co-author" he mentioned is JD Wiker (credited as co-designer of Star Wars and written a few Alternity/Star*Drive/Dark*Matter products).

Alternity and Star*Drive fans will be happy to note the inclusion of some amount of material in d20 Future.

[sarcasm]

Wow! Quite the earthshattering news from Moridin!

[/sarcasm]

Seriously though, did he honestly think that we wouldn't be expecting a ton of recycled Alternity in D20 Future?!

Actually, I hope it's not a ton.

I'm hoping they revisit MECHA CRUSADE (from Poly mag) and Star Frontier (IP formerly owned by TSR).

Then again, if I know most of those devoted Alternity fans, they have already turrned up their noses with regards to the new direction for Alternity elements.

:p

Personally, I loved Alternity. I switched to D20 and sold all my Alternity material (which was a ton) a while ago, mostly because D20 had all the "sacred cows" that I love in my gaming. I'm glad to see conversions of Alternity material in D20 Modern products and I hope for more. I'm hoping to see conversions of Mechalus and T'sa in D20 Future. Hopefully down the line they'll put out a Menace Manual style of book for D20 Future converting over some of the more interesting Alternity aliens (like the Deepfallen).

I have to agree here... I'd like to see some of the Mecha Crusade and definitely some Star Frontiers thrown in. Star Frontiers was a whole lot of fun way back when. Heck, I've even got some of the minis for those wacky races they had :)

If it is a ton of converted material, that's fine. It will finish the project that got me started on d20, a simplified Alternity game. LOL!

I think though, some of it will be like the San rules in CoC, ripped straight out and plopped in, the spaceship rules most likely. I still have my Internet print outs of conversions for cybergear and mutations.

But for psionics? Everyone on the net had a focus of doing "subtle X-files" powers, bleh. I ended up using d20 Force powers instead. On that note, welcome back the Fraal.

I'm hoping they revisit MECHA CRUSADE (from Poly mag)
Actually I hope they expand it, more options for my cyborg, please.

Very cool what I saw on the "front page" of EN World, but ...

... As this title ties directly to the d20 Modern rules system, it includes new psionic magic rules which influence everything from psionic power to item creation.

O.o well, I guess all the snide "magionic" comments finally got to them.

But isn't them just accepting they made it too much like magic and calling it that the oposite of what we want?

The good goal would be if it said, featuring an entirely new psionics system distinguisable from magic.
