Actor James Doohan, who is known to be suffering with several aliments, has now been confirmed by his wife, to be suffering with Alzheimers Disease.

Oh no!

Poor Scotty!

Having had several friends with relatives who have succumbed to Alzheimer's, I feel sorry for him and his family in general. This is one of the most horrible diseases out there. To no longer be able to recognize those around you (at the extreme of this disease) is something that can really tear a family apart.

I wish them peace and strength.

Sad news. I met him once at a convention. Won one of his magnets, it still sits on my fridge. Scotty is my favorite in the original series.

My cousin dated James Doohan back in the years right after the original startrek wrapped up (back when very few cared about the show and its strange revival in the seventies had not occured).

If Alzheimers was not such a horrible disease the image of scotty (the smartest gizmo guy on the ship) forgetting might be funny. But it is not.

Thats very sad.
