Scoundrel Rogue Playtest Up

If that is, indeed, the aim then I think it's a very good one!

That's terrible!! You don't always have everyone in a group that wants to play each role. People want to play what they want to play, not what they have to play. Also, if they continue down this road then the least amount of player's needed in order to play is 4, one for each role.

The purpose of the classes having secondary roles was to be able help pick up the slack if another role went down, or wasn't present at the game.

I've seen plenty of groups survive missing a role, or even two. Just makes some types of fights harder, and some types of fights easier... which is totally fine.

Eh, or just get the job done another way. I'm not talking about a group that has a ton of heals to replace a leader, or a defender or controller that tries really hard to do a lot of damage, or various classes picking up more control powers.

I'm saying you can do just fine without having a role, and it can be a different kind of (rewarding) play experience to do so. Without bleeding the role distinction all over the place such that if you want to be a great defender, maybe you should hybrid warlock, or if you want to do great AE damage, you should be a wizard instead of a sorcerer. (Two suggestions I've actually seen)

Right. There are TONS of ways to pick up a 'side' of some other role, and even with the changes I've seen there's still a modest amount of overlap. The idea was to make things distinct so that different classes would approach situations differently and not just be able to fill in exactly like another role.

Remember, though characters fall into roles, that doesn't mean that you MUST have that role to perform that function. There are always ways to for instance control the enemy that don't require a controller. It may be trickier and more limited, but it is still possible.

I still don't consider the Paragon Pathes well balanced.

I might not be up-to-date on things, considering how little I can play these days, but the Daggermaster still seems to have, overall, the best options.
