Screw Fox Screw Fox Screw Fox!!!!!!!!!

i think it's been that way for some time. there've been big time game endings that get cut off for some people because of it - i mean even more significant than yesterday's bears game. my dad would know more about that, since he told me about it. ;)

Two words:

Heidi Game

Ever since the "Heidi Game" (a Jets/Raiders game in 1968 that NBC cut away from to show "Heidi", thus not televising Oakland's last-second comeback), the networks don't cut away from NFL games to show regular programming, at least in the game's "home markets".

However, that doesn't stop them from cutting away from a game (no matter how exciting) to show a game that features a "home market team". As Vraille himself notes, St. Louis is the closest NFL team to his market, even if he believes there's more Chiefs fans than Rams fans (which makes sense anyway, given that the Chiefs have been "local" since 1963, while the Rams have only been in St. Louis since 1995).

Also...Fox carries NFC games (e.g., the Rams), while CBS carries AFC games (e.g., the Chiefs). So, your local Fox affiliate is going to consider the Rams their "home market" team, moreso than the Chiefs, who they'd televise no more than twice a year (Fox would carry the two Chiefs games a year where they host NFC teams, if those games weren't on Sunday night (NBC) or Monday night (ESPN)).

there was some big game years and years ago that they cut away the end to show the movie Heidi. My grandfather still rants about that one.
