Screw Fox Screw Fox Screw Fox!!!!!!!!!

I must be one of the few people who thinks the "Heidi" call was a good one. Games have an allotted time slot, and if they can't stick to them then it's not the broadcasters' fault.

Maybe I'm just bitter about having WAY too many shows preempted in favor of sports games. I'm still irked at that Baby Jessica girl who fell down a well, for her rescue caused my local TV station to break into coverage over one of the early Star Trek: TNG episodes.

Well, I got to see it!

Glad I went to DirecTV and the NFL package.

I guess it's instances like this that helps to sell the NFL package. That and being far away from your team and being guaranteed to be able to see it.

Frankly, I can understand switching games if the one on is a huge blowout. But it's stupid to switch "just 'cause the suits demand it".

It's an NFL thing. Stations can't show a game if it goes more than 15 mins over it's allotted time. This isn't the first time it's happened this season.

I've even seen it where a station isn't broadcasting a 2nd game and they still can't show the end of the 1st.

I guess they got tired of hearing people, who don't watch sports, bitch about other programming being delayed or hacked into due to sports programming.

Eh, I was like 8 at the time. That sort of thing sticks with ya. It's nice that she survived and all, but did they really need to bring us live coverage of the rescue and thus interrupt the climactic fight scene between Lt. Yar and the wife of the planet-of-the-week's leader?

That's only true of "Bonus Coverage". When a game is on, they only cut awayfor "Home Market" games. The "15 minutes after" rule is for when a game ends ontime or early and they go to "Bonus Coverage" of another game of interest.

O.K. now, this might get confusing...

The "15 minutes after the hour" rule only applies when that network does NOT have the doubleheader that week (or, of course, to cut away to a "Home Market" game). This is to prevent either network from "cheating" the network that is PAYING BILLIONS OF DOLLARS for the double header by extending their coverage.

For example, say CBS has doubleheader coverage for a given week. Fox shows an early game, but it ends. Fox starts showing the end of other games and/or overtimes and eats into CBS's time by an hour. Of course fans are going to watch the overtime before switching over to the late game on CBS in the middle of the 2nd quarter (except for maybe peeking in during commercials). This cheats CBS, in this example, of viewership which they have paid for exlusive rights to.
