Scrolls?

Oh ok.

Basically, we are all new to Wizards in my campaign. So, mostly anything about them would help. Things like what I asked, about crafting things, scrolls, casting spells.

Anything that I should know to get the best out of my Wizard.
Oh, oh, okay. Do you have the Player's Handbook? I'm guessing so. Read the Magic section. That'll answer just about everything. For crafting things, read the appropriate feats (Scribe Scroll, Craft Staff, etc).

Yeah, Cro has a good point. Tread through the book, then ask more specific questions. It's much easier that way.

The Complete Arcane is a good book for buffing up your Wizards, but I recommend you not delve into it until you already have a grasp of how it all works together.

For an extra casting or two at relatively cheap (over time) check out a Pearl of Power. It lets you recall to memory a spell that you have already cast that day. It only costs 1000gp for one that lets you recall a 1st level spell, and the Pearl is not used up doing this. Unfortunately the item cost grows exponentially beyond 1st level spells (level*level*1000gp).

Pearls of Power are only for Divine casters, I think. My impression is that he's askng about Wizards specifically, so he'd like the Rings of Wizardry, although those are pricy IIRC.

No, pearls of power work for anyone. As a suggestion, you might want to use burning hands instead of magic missile-it will deal more damage to an area, albeit with a saving throw.

To complete the answer to your first post: you are not limited by your number of spells per day when casting from scrolls, and they don't use up your spell slots. If you have six scrolls of magic missile then you can cast six magic missiles plus your usual amount of spells.

Also, to scribe a scroll, would it look something like this?::

I want to Scribe Magic Missle. Im a level 2 Wizard.
So, it would be; 1x2x25= 50gp.
So It would cost 50gp and 2 XP to scribe this scroll?
No, it would cost 50 gp to buy it. It would cost you 25 gp and 2 XP (and a day) to scribe it. And as pointed out, the only benefit you get from a 2nd level Magic Missile is 10 feet of extra range, so it's recommended that you scribe it at 1st level instead. You can set the caster level for items (and spells you cast yourself, for that matter - though that's usually less useful) to any number between the minimum needed to cast it and your actual caster level. So when you level up next time and get 2nd level spells, you have to scribe those at a minimum of 3rd level, but your first level spells can be scribed at 1st or higher level.

Also the DMG (Dungeon Master's Guide) is essential for how to use magic items (and to crete them) - it is the higher order book for magic items. Read through the magic item section for some background on that - especailly the definitions of use-activated, spell completion, etc. magic items. This is important to know the distinction for these.

And it does say the spell vanishes from the scroll when used, not that the paper (or material that the scroll is made of) disappears once used.

Unlike a wand that turns into a stick when all of its charges are spent.

Also it is important to note that a spell cannot be cast out of a spellbook (unlike 2nd ed).
