Thanks,

Sculpt Spell

[Metamagic]
You can alter the area of your spells.
Prerequisite: Any metamagic feat.
Benefit: You can modify an area spell by changing the area's shape to either a cylinder (10-foot radius, 30 feet high), a 40-foot cone, four 10-foot cubes, a ball (20-foot-radius spread), or a 120-foot line. The sculpted spell works normally in all respects except for its shape. For example, a lightning bolt whose area is changed to a ball deals the same amount of damage, but affects a 20-foot-radius spread. A sculpted spell uses a spell slot one level higher than the spell's actual level.

As has been said, Complete Arcane is where you will find it. It is a very strong metamagic feat for just the +1 adjustment. My resident powergamer uses it to great effect, especially with spells that only normally have a 10ft spread (e.g. Grease). With those spells they are effectively 4 times the size of the normal spell, plus you can pick and choose where you want them.

Do be careful in your plans with it, noting exactly what is changed. Back a while ago, the party fighter's player came up with a great idea for me, since I loved using Sculpt Spell so much: combine it with Anti-Magic Field! The cone seemed awesome, till we realized it would still have range: 10 ft...

Says who? If the spell is prepared, the preparation should be when the sculpted shape is chosen.

I think he means that you can choose where to position the 4 10-ft circles, which helps protect your party from being caught in the crossfire. For example, you can use a sculpted glitterdust to simultaneously blind 4 ogres without fear of accidentally hitting your fighter who happens to be surrounded by them, unlike say, a widened glitterdust, which is much less discerning in who it affects.:)

Preparing spells is sooo yesterday. ;)

In fact, to post something useful as well, Sculpt Spell is a very nice feat for a Sorcerer; more flexibility/versatility is always good. :)

Especially when you realize how many ways there are for a wizard to cast spells spontaneously.;)
