Search for Eternal Youth: Spells Alter and Polymorph Self

For one Marut maybe...

I would think that Neutral forces who go up against Freaks Screwing with the Immutable Laws of the Universe believe in Force Appropriate Response :p.

"Oh look, a CR appropriate group of Marut... this'll be fun!"

Whatever happened to goold old fashioned potions of longevity?
They stopped being specifically supported by the rules, so people started looking for methods that involved no house rules, making them relatively universal.

Not that being ageless has any noticeable effect on game balance in roughly 99% of campaigns....

Agreed. Sadly most games have you go from 1st-20th level in a few years... Lots of Final Fantasy style 'unaging' games. Longevity was also a popular potion because they were a.) rare, and b.) protected/abjured the effects of age draining effects.

Sadly we got rid of a lot of the built-in balance of spellcasting... And let the rest go by the wayside :(.

In one of my games we have a Psion Telepath who aspires to access the level 9 True Mind Switch and then take over the body of a Black Dragon. His idea of immortality is to constantly hop his mind into powerful, long lived bodies forever.

I find the idea of a body thief fascinating. Not only does it allow a form of immortality, it would be an awesome learning experience. Just imagine gaining the perspective of having a completely different type of body. All of a sudden you can fly or breathe water or have a different gender. That would be a Sensate's dream...

There's cheesy way of getting the effect sooner... although it slows down character growth considerably. Easier for a Shaper than a Telepath, though.

First, you use a regular Mind Swtich on the thing you want to be.
Second, you manifest Astral Seed while in the body you like.
Third, you wait for the Mind Switch to expire (although this step can be skipped if you don't care about the body donor).
Fourth, you kill yourself.
Fifth, you use your Astral Seed to rebuild yourself... in an Instant manner, which results in you having "a living, breathing body that is an exact duplicate of your body at the time you manifested astral seed" - which is, to say, you in someone else's body.

I second reincarnate, in fact in most homebrew campaigns all the oldest creatures in the setting are druids. Then there's the issue that Druid's using this reincarnate cycle can return as a wide variety of species and genders. So before too long they tend to become very unprejudiced and open-minded in social and personal preferences.

Huh. I read your post and thought, "Well, that's sneaky and has the flavor of abuse" and then I read Astral Seed and saw that suggestion built right into the ability. Psion's are jerks.

Oh, the one written into the ability seems to be a holdover from 3.0, where there was no True Mind Switch, and the regular version of Mind Switch couldn't be dispelled or suppressed if one of the two died; they didn't update the text of Astral Seed between the two versions, even though they noticeably changed how Mind Switch worked. It has you manifesting Astral Seed, dying, swapping bodies, and then smashing your seed. That's slightly different from the method I posted, partly in that it strictly requires you to ursurp someone's body permanently, vs. the one I posted wherin you copy someone's body.

I just remembered writing this...

Stolen Innocence (dark invocation)
Equivalent Level: 8th
Description: Your dark touch steals a younger person's youth and taints their soul. If the target fails a Fortitude save, you acquire their physical age and they're given yours. It also corrupts them, moving their alignment one step toward Chaotic Evil. Your new ages affect physical characteristics only. This power has no effect on someone your age or older.

...There is a surprising lack of spells and powers related to age and lifespan in 3.X games, really shocking to me. This invocation comes with a price, there's no free lunch for a Warlock in my book.
