Secondary Skills and a Fix for Intelligence

I think I have a good house rule to take care of both these problems.

Rule: A character gains training in a number of secondary skills equal to 1 + his Intelligence modifier (minimum 1 trained secondary skill).

A secondary skill is a single specific job or skill that can be covered by the Craft, Profession, and Preform 3.5E skills.

I approve. This is a simple, easy, fun, and good idea. I will be adopting it. An easy way to get profession (cook) back into the game.

I might limit it to just 1 per character with an extra per +2 intelligence modifier. So the 18 int Wiz only gets 3 instead of 5.

Maybe.

I think the primary effect of this rule would be: players who happen to have classes where int is important will get to do more interesting non-combat stuff than the rest.

Why does the wizard get to have hobbies and a day job and play the piano, while the rogue gets nothin'?
