Seeking adventure suggestions

I'm thinking of adding a new player to my D&D campaign. The group is agreed that we ought to run a trial session with this player, separate from the current PCs, to see if the new player's style fits us, and vice versa.

While I can manage to create an adventure myself, this seems as good an opportunity as any to poke at a published item or two. I'm looking for an adventure for 3.xe, 4 to 6 PCs, level 2-3. The thing needs to be short enough to run in one session (of perhaps 7 hours), or easy to cut down to such a length. Pregen characters are not required, but wouldn't be bad, either. I'd prefer it be generic enough to slip into a fairly run-of-the-mill D&D setting.

Anyone have suggestions?

I second the resident grognard.

The thing about Of Sound Mind in this situation is that it's not only an excellent adventure, but it gives the players enough ocassions to show their true colors, so to speak.

CMG's Whispering Woodwind. Don't include the optional Trundlefolk encounter and One session might do it. Designed for 2nd level characters.

I think Troll Lord's A Lion in the Ropes is also for 2nd level characters and is short and $4 at www.rpgnow.com

You've exactly described Goodman Games' Dragonfiend Pact.
