Sell me on Tome of Horrors II

I'm A Banana

So I picked up the first, and loved it.

Now the second is out, but I know almost nothing about it (save that all the monsters are new, and that there's a lot of them).

So, what are some examples of the stuff that'll be in there? Is it as thick as the original? As OGC friendly? Are all the drawings B&W sketch-style like in the original, or have there maybe been some improvements in theh area? Am I going to be looking at 30 pages of demons and devils again? ;)

If you've got it, sell me on it. If you worked on it, tell me about it. The first one basically sold me on "a big arse collection of sometimes-weird monsters, all OGC" and added icing on the cake with the opening of monsters from previous editions. Has this made any leaps and strides, or is it the same thing, with new beasties?

Make me want it!

One word: Appendix.

If you flip through to the Appendix and start reading, you'll be hooked.

As for the art, you wont find any pudgy alu-fiends in this book.

I haven't seen the book yet, but I was of the belief that none of these were going to be updated monsters from previous editions of the game; these were all going to be brand-new critters.

They are all brand new creatures. I didn't spot anything new from earlier editions, although I may be wrong.

Its a NG product, and thus far they have never put out a bad product IMO. And more importantly, you can never have enough monsters.

I've had my copy since Monday, and I've been very impressed with it so far. These are all new creatures, with some real odd ones in the mix. The oddest are probably the N'gathau, which are Hellraiser-like outsiders that are the remains of modified mortals who torment other mortals and outsiders! There is also a large section on normal animals, and lots of cool new undead. There are also quite a few new fey which seem very alien and cool. Also about 20 pages of new demons and devils, all of which are really good (some dukes of Hell thrown in the mix too). CRs range from 1/10th to 26, with most in the 2-9 area. Another winner from Necromancer- definitely get this book!
