Sequel to "The Dark Crystal"

The original was a very special movie to me. It was also quite clearly a labor of love on Henson's part. The Art of the Dark Crystal makes it clear how much time and effort was put into the movie.

While it's not impossible that the a sequel would be good. LotR proved that, but I wish I could believe that it wouldn't be another Phantom or ST-The Motion Picture. The track record for decades later sequels/updates to beloved classics is not good.

I think the sequel is a great idea. However, I believe they should wait awhile before they try this. It just hasn't been enough time since the original.

Not sure how this will be with the puppets mixed with CG. I need to watch the original again, it's been a long time.

I've always considered them to be more like the Nagpa myself. Nagpa are from the Mystara setting, basically spellcasters cursed into vulture-man hybrids. Their stats are in the old Mystara Monstrous Compendium appendix.

I had a similar thought myself when I first saw the Nagpa in the Mystara MC. In one of my old campaigns, I had this race of evil bird men who were very much inspired by my muddled memories of The Dark Crystal (I haven't seen that movie in probably 20 years). I decided to make the nagpa an offshoot of that race.

Wow, two Henson movies coming out soon. I just wish that a new trailer for Mirror Mask would be put up.

I will hope for the best, but fear the worst on this one. Too many things that could go horribly, horribly wrong. (Two Jakes vs. Chinatown anyone?)
