I got the impression from speaking with her at Gen Con SoCal that she had plenty of screen time. Must have been the scheduling thing that Cthulhudrew mentioned.

What I heard was that Morena Baccarin is a major character in the film, but was not in the photo as she is not a part of Serenity's crew any longer. Ron Glass I heard had scheduling conflicts and does not have a major role in the film.
