Seriously considering dropping the hobby

My point is where are the flesh and blood friends you physically hang with? Or do you consider only having friends with usernames on your computer screen the new fad?

There are plenty local friends I see every week. There are friends at work I see almost daily. There are also friends who I can't see that often so I use the internet as a way to communicate with them. Just because someone has friends on line does not mean they don't have friends they see not on line and in person. And yes, you are implying that.

The online crowd should get out and make friends you can physically see by playing a good social game that requires physical attendance.

You are part of that on line crowd right now. Shouldn't you be going out and making friends too? ;)

And who knows? Maybe those "internet friends" are even more interesting than you realize. For example, that buddy of yours who is 20 years old and lives in Kansas City might *really* be a 50-year-old morbidly obese recluse living in his parents' basement in Chicago . . .

So, you found out that secret about Piratecat too???

Right now does not equate to online all of the time. Moreover you do not see me defending being an internet hermit thus it is obvious I have acquaintainces offline.

Simple enough..

Name them!

Nah j/k I believe you have real-life friends.

I can see why this guy wants to drop the hobby though.

Shaylon, Frater, Iron Wolf

Well, those are their on line names. Joe, Brent and ?Jeff in the real world :D

I have plenty more but those are the three that are also on line and I figured it be funny by listing them by their handles first

No it's not. I have played WoW several times and it is extremely cheesy. I don't even play anymore.

Um...yes, it can be.

As I said, my old group of 6 migrated to WoW. They formed a guild which eventually folded into a larger guild of real-life acquaintances---which eventually grew to 20+ people all spanning the globe.

They manage their own forums, they Skype each other daily, and talk constantly among themselves via Teamspeak while online.

The same people, telling the same jokes and sharing the same experiences as they used to do at the tabletop---just online.

I'm sorry that you did not find such a social network while online---but that in no way negates the fact that they exist.

Hey, you're scaring me! Next you'll be saying that Natascha the hot 18 year old red-head game chick and fashion model from Paris I chat with every day is not really red-headed?

Yikes!

:D
