Much fun was had last night with a certain ball of light sending an Adimantium Statue chasing me all over the Forgotten Forrest. Not to mention a bunch of constructs that looked familiar from Chainmail. Then a quest which involved the slaying of A Dragon or 3 and some baby ones and recovering a Golem's heart. Dying 3 times in just a few minutes last night I almost thought I was back in Chainmail. With that in Mind the penalty for death is whacked out. I had Around 180000 GP and loast 20000 the first death, Around 18000 the second time And then on the third around 16000 and My boots of Speed. Definatley isn't 10% of my Gold. Not a biggie as the loot found made up for this. :). I am beginig to realy like my new Character. A Fighter 9 Paladin 2.

Im glad you enjoyed the little Quest I set you.. one of your deaths was an unfortunate as it was deisgned to challenge you and your companion (who was a little bit better equipped at the time) but he logged off for the night just as you entered and i didnt have chance to re-juggle the creatures for a challenge for you alone. Im glad to hear you enjoyed it anyway :)

My new low-level char is having a hard time getting a leg up. She simply can't deal damage, and I don't want to gear her up in case we go back to Chainmail [hopin']. Still having fun anyways.

But since you're around, Neo, wanted to let you know someone trapped the entrance to town from the west last time I was on. That's just wrong. Don't know who did it, though...

Thanks for the heads up Greylock ill keep an eye out, did you happen to see who laid the traps?

Although laying traps outside of town is no prohibited, placing them at the transition point into and out of town for purposes other than of killing monsters that are there at the time is not really fair on others.. anyone I catch doing this will be looking at some time in the Ascension Jail..and possible fines. So to any who feel so inclined, please do not.

I have no idea who did it. My char was deep in the caves to the west when it was done. When I logged on, it appeared a DM quest was running, but by the time my char hit the 'gate', no DMs were on. The traps were laid about the transition point in such a way my char had no choice but to run the gauntlet. Her HP were way low, but her reflex saves got her through. Forced me to give in and take skills in disable, even though they are cc, at the ensuing level-up.

Weird I have seen someone shouting about this one time before. It has never happend to me.
Now it happends to Greylock the other night. I know I was doing the DM quest so myself and the other one doing it Dreiss have an aliby. But from what I can recall the only ones on were myself, the player of Dreiss, Neo as the Ball O'light Dm and Greylock I saw a 1/2ling in town assuming that is him. Sure others could have come and gone but it seems odd. Could these be random spawns somehow? Or all traps set in stone where they are?

Once a trap has been laid it will remain where it is until triggered or until the server is fully reset. The traps may have been left as monster lures and then forgotten about as most low levels tend to stick quite close to the transition to town when fighting beetles for the first level or so, and its a fairly common tactic to lay traps and then lead the monsters back over them. Any number of explanations could be the case here..someone could have laid them, died from the beetles and then logged out leaving them behind..or indeed it could have been someone intentionally trying to get PC's its difficult to say.

There are definitely no traps as part of the standard module that are set in the location though so any present were definitely player laid for whatever reason.

As I point out above laying traps is not actually against the server rules, I would however "prefer" they not be left at the transition..making them pretty much unavoidable. There will be some time spent in the Ascension jail to anyone I find laying them at the transition point to town...with possible GP/XP penalties for repeat offenders.

I suspect this was likely unintentional though at it isnt something that comes up very often, which implies it isnt really malicious.

No I think its intentional. Its happend to me also. Anyone who places a trap in a transition area is doing it to catch a PC...

Anyway just checking in to see if CHAINMAIL was back up yet. Guess not. Hope it is soon... Or something besides POA.

Peace

Does anyone know what the holy avenger properties in POA are.
Stoo me is seems to do a bit more damage to evil and that is the only difference I can see. Does it do the dispel magic on a hit?

If I recall the Holy Avenger property "Pre Expansions" either didnt work or didnt work right..and PoA was made pre expansions hence why a lot of items have only the basic properties, looks etc.. The holy Avenger issue was resolved in one of the expansions and is supposed to have a chance of dispelling ,magic or some such.. but it likely isnt functioning that way currently.

No problem I can handle the lack of Dispel Magic.
I was in the temple fighting Ghoul Ravagers and Bodaks etc. with The Paladins Blade. My damage output was sickening. In a good way that is. With Power Attack I was doing 30 ish damage with my Long Sword. My last weapon
Luna's kiss I think was only doing on average 16ish damage.

Quick question. Saw a player last night who apperaer to be a construct. name was Tor. Showed as level 5 fighter and levle 1 ?33? for a total of level 6. Curious on how this could be done?
