Setting help with Tron Universe

tecnowraith

First Post
I am in the process of converting the Tron universe into a campaign setting and some help who knows the universe from all the media. Also any info from the sequel and game. l I have the original DVD and played 2.0 but have not read the comic or any novels.

  • Points of help:
  • Social structure of the programs, if any
  • creatures that resides in the computer world beside grid bugs.
  • any unique abilities or powers that programs showed or had

The system I am thinking of using is Mutants and Masterminds 3e, with new info being release in the Design Journal #5.
Anyone want help?

I finally found that one yesterday, not sure about that. This was before 2.0 game and legacy which is what I am looking for.

Ah, I see. I guess casting around for source material is going to be a crapshoot for this project. Put a link in your sig to the storage house you set up for your work so folks can pop in from time to time. Good luck! :)

There's a TRON wiki.
The new movie has this website.

I haven't read the comics or novels either. So, I'm not much help, but don't forget about Bits. I don't remember any special abilities in the original movie, but I have a feeling that's going to change in the sequel.

I would think you could reskin bits as familiars. Depending on what system you are using I would reskin the Primitive Subroutines from Tron 2.0 as weapons (and everyone should have a disk, even if they can't use it well.) The combat/defense/utility subroutines could be remade as feats for D20 or powers for 4e.

Assuming the PCs are mostly Users you can have them hacking their way into systems, fighting viruses and security systems. Decide early on who the BBEG is going to be. It will most likely shape the course of the adventure. Naturally you should try to work stuff from the movie in if possible, Flynn would make a good patron and Tron would probably be a combination quest (for the actual program) and high level NPC.

The disk weapon would probably act as a combination of a dancing sword and shield.
