Setting survivor?

Freeport is winning the city survivor right now. Leaving off the non-WotC settings doesn't sound like it would serve anyones best interests. I know you need to draw the line somewhere, but many 3rd party campaign settings like Iron Kingdoms, Scarred Lands, Midnight, Dawnforge, Kalamar, Arcanis, Outbound, Freeport and others deserve consideration.

I see two ways to do this. First, do a version with only official settings (i.e. published by TSR & WotC, maybe include Judges Guild D&D settings and Kalamar). Second, do a currently active campaign setting survivor (D&D/d20/OGL). Ignore the settings that aren't published (or maybe just ignore those that haven't been published since 3E was released).

Combining the two creates just too large of a pool. In retrospect, I wish I had limited the field for the 2006 WotC Release survivor.

I would prefer a survivor setup, over a straight vote. It does make it more interesting.

For example, it looks like Freeport is winning right now, but come next round the majority of the votes that went to this round's loser could go to Freeport.

Of course, I don't consider the survivor setup to equal a test for "most popular", as much as "least consistantly unpopular".

Of course you have to include d20 settings! Is this or is this not EN World? 'Sides, it's much more interesting that way.

If we must limit the pool, what if we limit it to "currently in print" settings, arbitrarily discounting PDFs or free websites? Sorry PDF sellers, but there is no room for you! Unless there is, in which case welcome PDF sellers! Have a seat!

Endless "(insert TSR/WotC setting) sucks!" posts strike me as tedious, though they may be inevitable.

I don't know how many such a restriction would leave, though, and I won't even attempt such a list myself.

If this is going to be done, I'm glad this thread exists to give people the opportunity to hash out which settings should be in the survivor before it starts.

Oh...and I suggest doing one survivor with official settings and another with unofficial settings...then do a third survivor with the last five contenders of each of the first two.
