Sex, Violence, Drugs and other naughty things

I tend to be somewhat graphic with the violence. Normal attacks that only cause a small percentage of total hit point damage don't get a lot of description, but attacks that hit hard tend to be more graphically described. When the blood and entrails start flowing freely, my players know they're kicking ass. Crits are also described in somewhat graphic detail as well. After one particularly gory round of combat which i did not gloss over, I wisecracked, "Just trying to keep the violence graphic here, folks." My players laughed their asses off.

I tend to gloss over sex. It really doesn't come up a hell of a lot in my games anyway. Most of the players I've DMed for seemed to be more interested in playing D&D than getting their groove on in an imaginary sense. This seems to be fairly typical from the responses given here. My cities do have prostitutes, but my players rarely seem interested in them. There was a time when one of the bad guys set up a meeting with the PCs in a local whorehouse, and only 1 PC was interested in being a paying customer. He says, "I'm rolling a Cha check to pick up one of the girls," and rolls a 1 :] And after the group was done with the meeting, two of them killed the bad guy, and then burned the whorehouse down!

I haven't really used drugs in my games (not counting alcohol of course), but they exist IMC. In my last game, I had a player who played a pot smoking elf. I allowed it for potential comic value, the other players sort of responded to the character as if he were some sort of idiot for getting high.

And we all curse and swear. I have no problem with that.
