Shades of Netheril (2)

DM'S NOTE: I had Alexander become dismounted because you were traveling at full speed at the scorpion when you hit it's attack. It's kind of like driving in a motorcycle and getting smacked across your chest at 20 miles an hour. If you really want to, you could have tried to stay in the saddle, but there would have been additional damage (most probably fatal or involving broken limbs) I just assumed that Alexander would be using his reflexes to try and roll with the blow.

Tores takes a step backwards, and fires again (9+3=12) and manages to hit the Scorpion, but is unable to penetrate it's hide. Sul'Dan also takes a step to the side and fires (19+5=24), lodging an arrow (3+2=5) in between 2 plates of the scorpion's armour. Gavin also attempts to shoot the scorpion, (15+4=19) and sticking the arrow into another crack in the scorpion's armour (4+2=6). One of Arcanra's knights falls to the ground, illusionary blood spraying from a wound. Alexander, scrambles to the side, ad manages to get his bastard sword free while avoiding the scorpion's attacks. Jasper, seeing his friend's distress, frantically fires his crossbow, (10+5=15) and watches helplessly as his bolt bounces off of one of the scorpion's plates. The scorpion attempts to sting the "injured knight" but its tail passes right through the figure. Unfortunately, it uses both of its claws on Alexander, who scrambles away from one, but his leg is trapped in the other (7).

OOC: Screw the shield. If I'm going down, so's this guy. OH, about the dismounting thing - That's ok, I was just wondering.

IC:
Alexander stops reaching for his Shield and instead grabs his Sword in both hands, bringnig it down as hard as he can on the things arm, trying to loosen its grip on him by simultaneously loosening its grip on life.

OOC:
Did I mention Dodge vs this thing? If not, then well.. Dodge vs this thing... soon as I disarm it. (Pun intended.) Not trying for any special attack here or anything, just describing it fun. Two-handed attack with B. Sword (+8 to hit, 1d10+4 damage)

Ok, next round, bow out. Spell lasts for 2 rounds after I am done concentrating, so it will appear to have more foes than are really there. I'll start shooting arrows at the thing.

Seeing that Alexander is hard pressed, I will drop my bow and draw my greatsword, taking a half move to get aorund to the other side of the scorpion as I do so.

Once I am in place I will do a partial charge against the creature, attacking with my greatsword. If possible, I will try to flank the beast, to give Alexander and myself the best possible chance of hitting.

Attack: +6 or +8 (+4 base +2 charge, and possibly +2 flanking)
AC: 16 (10 base +3 Dex + 4 Mage Armour +1 Dodge -2 charge)

Tores again fires an arrow (11+3=14), but watches it bounce off harmlessly once again. Sul'Dan drops his bow, and charges with a warcry on his lips and his greatsword in his hands. His mighty swing (14+6=20) easily connects with the side of the scorpion, crushing armour plating and sending ichor flying through the air (10+2=12). Gavin fires another of his arrows (17+4=21) and is able to successfully lodge it deep within the scorpion's eye (6+2=8). Arcanra frantically strings and knocks his bow. Alexander, turns to the claw clamped upon his leg, and swing with all of his might, (16+8=24) and easily connects with the plated limb attached to the claw. Alexader's mighty stroke succeeds in seperating the claw from the scorpion, and covering him in ichor (10+4=14). Jasper, frantically fires his crossbow, (13+5=18) lodging the bolt in the mouth of the scorpion (7). The scorpion, with one final half-hearted lunge at Sul'Dan, finally succumbs to it's wounds. As the party prepares to celebrate its victory, Alexander collapses to the ground, unable in his newly weakened state to move while wearing his fairly weighty armour.

Jasper runs through the Sand to the side of Alexander'Don't you Die now, lad! Why, you missed how <I> dealt the Killing Blow!'

Tores looks around for others, sticking out his chest valiantly, seconds later quickly looking frightened and looking to the fallen friend.

"Arcanra, will he be okay?"

"Killing Blow?" Alexander coughs and looks up at the dwarf.. A strange new perspective, indeed. "Tis enough that the beast is dead, what matters who killed it?" He smiles as he tries to fluster the dwarf, then turns to Arcana. "Thank you once again for keeping me alive. The wounds are not too greivous, though... It is the poison I fear that is making me so weak. Do you have any way to stop that?"

Exp!

OOC: Yes, I do have a child like joy in PBP games...PBEM more roleplaying..most of the time...

Gavin watches as the creature falls, moves closer torwards it and fires one more shot in the beast...

"It is dead," he speaks "we should continue onnward."

Deadly company I find myself in with now. Great, just great.

OOC: Taking up point agian.
