After a the water is shared, one of the captives begins trying to converse with Sul'Dan in blurred common. Apparently, the Zhents had captured these slaves from the Bedine tribes (the local people) and were using them to help get a caravan through the desert, both as guides, and as manual labor. After some cursory inspection of the wagons, you can see they are telling the truth by the amount of trade goods (scented oils, incense, wood, iron, and several bars of gold and silver). The Bedine slaves also extend there gratitude. They all seem fearful, as if something more than mere slavers are on their tails...

"I'll try to find out what is worrying them: there are nervous as sand lizards. We should put a couple of people on guard while I find out what is going on." I pause and glance at the corpses of the Zhentarim, distaste clear in my expression, "We should also check the slavers for valuables and magic - that wand for instance - then move the bodies away from the oasis, so they do not spoil the water."

OOC: and at some point, Tores and I could use some healing :)

Arcanra will drag the Zhent bodies to one spot, then cast Detect Magic on them to see if they are carrying any valuables other than the wand. After Sul'dan is done talking Arcanra will hit him with a Cure Light Wounds (1d8+3) and then a second if needed.

Arcanra checks the bodies while Sul'Dan turns to the captives. It seems, that these bedine lived on the eastern side of the desert. They were packing up their tents, and preparing to move, when out of nowhere, a column of strange troops attacked. Apparently, the weakest of these soldiers wielded great magic, and many of the Bedine were struck by great bolts of energy. About ten managed to escape from a tribe of One hundred. With nowhere to go, the Bedine returned stealthily to their camp, and found that the sight upon which they had once lived, was now being turned into a dig sight. After about one day of watching, a Tomb of some sort was uncovered. After seeing this, the Bedine fled, only to be promptly captured by the Zhents after a short fight. (you feel that the bedine could easily guide you to this sight)

Among the bodies, is a +1 Chain Shirt, 4 Potions of Cure light wounds, Wand of Magic Missiles (5th level) 30 Charges, and a+2 Bastard Sword Also, is about 5000 gp worth of carryable trade goods, a ruby, and 750 gp

ooc: hmm... nice sword...

IC:
"I would suggest that we investigate this tomb, it may be important. Should we.. 'divy up the loot' as some would put it?" Alexander says, his eyes never straying from the hilt of the extremely-well made sword, which seems to call out for him to wield it.

"We can be sure that the Zhentarim have only foul purposes for the tomb, so I agree that we must go there. As for the items ..." I shrug, "There is little there to interest me. I will claim a share of the gold we earn from them, but other than that - the rest of you can distribute them as you see fit."

Hmm.... It would be kind of helpful for the party to divy up the reward, and update their characters or at least tell me before we get moving onward. Its been what, two days, and we have two new posts. GET ONLINE PEOPLE!

grrr.....

Here's my proposal. I say we wait 48 hours for objections, then move on :)

Bastard Sword - Alexander
Chain Shirt - Jasper
Wand - Tores
Potions - one each for everyone but Arcanra and Sul'Dan
Gold - 125 each
Goods and Ruby - held for sale at a later date

I have one objection. If I am getting such a majestic item, the you should divide my share of the gold between those that are getting nothing (Arcan'ra, Suldan, and to a lesser extent Gavin, who is getting only a potion). OR I'll put it into the party fund. (speaking of which, who was keeping track of that and holding onto it?)
