Blackburn - the first step in what would become his career. Originally a photocopied publication, we've made it available once again, now in a form unimagined at the time.

Shadis provides a myriad of articles to enhance your role-playing, along with fiction, reviews, and much more!

Fans of Jolly's creation the Knights of the Dinner Table, as well as HackMaster, will certainly recognize familiar writers and creators, as well as early references to the lands of Alderac (eventually to be HackMaster's Aldrazar/Garweeze Wurld).

No, no plans for bringing it back. I'm not sure who actually holds the rights to Shadis after the first half-dozen issues or so - probably AEG. Only the earliest ones are ours (Jolly's).

I loved the old Beyond Hack and Slash articles that provided guidelines to GMs for awarding XP for things outside of combat.

Desperately needed as some type of CR/ECL thing in d20 game mechanics.

Oh, for those who aren't aware, most of the features and formats of the early Shadis evolved into the magazine section of Knights of the Dinner Table.

So if we brought Shadis back, we'd just be competing with ourselves - and duplicating a lot of effort.

Shadis was my favorite general RPG magazine from the time I discovered it to the time of its demise. When I saw the title of this thread my very first thought was 'They're restarting Shadis as a PDF magazine?!!! HURRAY!'

Ah well, maybe someday.

Well, all the same features you loved in the early Shadis still exist in the Knights of the Dinner Table magazine, so I hope you're reading that already!

We'll be releasing more Shadis PDFs soon, by the way.
