Shadow Walk

Shadow Walk - how does this spell work? Specifically, what is considered "shadowy illumination"? A completely dark room or a completely sunny day is out, of course. What about a room lit by a torch with shadows? Or a heavily cloudy day? Or the moments before everything is dark for the night? Or... ...what?

Two quick examples:

A torch burns for 1 hour, clearly illuminating a 20-foot radius and providing shadowy illumination out to a 40-foot radius.

This spell causes an object to radiate shadowy illumination out to a 20-foot radius. ... Normal lights (torches, candles, lanterns, and so forth) are incapable of brightening the area, as are light spells of lower level. Higher level light spells are not affected by darkness.

I have a few questions about this spell as well

can this be used as an attack and if so do thy get a 50% chance to end up on the Metarial plane 50% to end up on the borders of the shadow plane forever or is it the plane of shadows?

if your just on the borders of the plane of shadows can you be attacked by some shadow mob? could this be a safe way to set up camp?

it says "the transit of the plane of shadows takes 1d4hours" does that meen to go to the plane of shadows or to go to another plane alltogather?

and last question... what planes border the shadow plain in FR's

sorry bout all the questions
