Shadowrun 4th Edition

I didn't see a better place to put this since it's not d20, but still it's gaming

FanPro is redoing Shadowrun. It looks like it's going to be as massive a change as from 2e to 3e D&D. And they seem to be designing it in anticipation of easily adding additional rules into the system, instead of tacking new rules on to deal with a new idea.

Here's the relevant FAQ links.

This is the magic change, looks to be a very big departure from previous versions

Although I understand why they want to do a new edition, and I'm not peeved or anything about it, I just can't surrender my Third Edition investment. I have literally every Third Edition book. If there was some hope of compatibility, maybe, but from what I'm reading the changes are major.

Yep, you picked the right forum. We had a little discussion back when the first FAQ was released, but not much since, I'm guessing because not much more info has been released. There are a lot of SR fans here who are in "wait and see" mode.

I've been regularly dropping in on the Dumpshock forums (that being to Shadowrun what ENWorld is to d20) and most of the conversation is still noise to signal at this point; I myself really don't know what else to say until I see the game, because I never had much play experience with SR 3, and I want to see if SR 4 mechanics will be more friendly to me than SR 3's were. So far, I'm liking what I see, because even though handfuls of d6's are still used, tests should be a lot quicker.

Now, where to find a bunch of d6's with 4 clear sides and two marked sides... :)
