Shaman - Healing Spirit power

First Post
This is a class I've asked questions about in the past. I am finally going to get to play one in the DS setting in t-minus 32 days and counting!!

Anyway, I want to clarify the "splash" healing affect. One "ally" adjacent to your SC means it CANNOT be me because I cannot be my own ally. Is this correct? I'm just trying to figure out ways to guarantee I'll always take advantage of the extra healing since it's such a unique way to deliver it. But I'm pretty sure the rules state that I cannot be my own ally, therefore I can target myself with the power i.e. allowing me to spend a healing surge, but I cannot target myself with the splash healing affect even if I'm the only one adjacent to my SC. Thanks for the help.

Your interpretation is correct. When you use Healing Spirit, one member of your party within 5 squares of you gets to spend a surge (that can be you or an ally). In addition, one of your allies adjacent to your spirit companion gains 1d6 hit points (that can't be you, and it can't be the same ally who spent the surge).

Basically when you're a shaman and you want to do some healing, you put your spirit companion next to an ally who could use a little bit of healing and you put yourself within 5 squares of an ally (or yourself) who could use a full surge worth of healing. You use Healing Spirit, and both of those party members get some healing. It can't be the same party member for both, and you can't benefit from the 1d6 bonus healing from being next to your spirit companion.
