Shapeshifting and Items

I have a druid in my campaign who wants to turn into an eagle and we're trying to figure out which of his magic items still work. Specifically would a ring of protection still work? I guess a ring could fit on a talon or something; or are all items pretty much useless until the druid changes shape back into a humanoid form?

Does the Druid wear the ring on her toes?

It would be pretty hard to keep it on her wing...

But who knows how polymorphing works.

I say let it work.

By the rules, unless it's a form that can normally wear the equipment, the equipment melds into your form when you change, and is not useable.

Ways around it:

1) Take the item off before you change shape, and put it on afterward. Your new form needs to have a limb or body part that the item can fit on.

2) Enchant a set of armor or sheild with the Wild ability, this allows it to function even when you are wildshapded.

3) Wilding Clasp from Master of the Wild.

4) Talk to your DM. Some items (such as rings) can conceiveable be worn even in animal form, even though animals don't normally wear rings. He might allow it to refit itself to the animal form.
