Question

When making an order of mixed gaming products and non-gaming products, is there a reason NOT to send the STL discount on all the products ordered?

While most people will not mind, it is a courtesy to those who sign up on the list expecting to get gaming-related products. Of course, genre-related material (usually Sci-Fi or Fantasy, but also some pulp adventure and comics) is also fine. For example, LOTR movies.

You can also use your best judment on other items. I'd stay away from music because individual tastes very so much. Movies are maybe/maybe not. Again, think genre. I'd consider Star Wars (Sci Fi/Space Opera), LOTR (Fantasy), Spiderman (Comics), or Indiana Jones (pulp adventure) to be fine.

Of course, this is all IMHO.

How do you know when someone has used your "love sharing" to purchase? Does it wait until after the item ships before the person gets their 10%? Just curious...

Because of privacy issues, they won't tell you who bought what, or even if anyone bought anything.

As for when they give the credit, I think it's after (1) your item has shipped and (2) their item has shipped. Cancelling your item cancels the discount to the people on your list. If they cancel, you don't get a discount. Assuming everything works, of course...

Something I've started to do with the list: If I'm ordering something that I just received as a discount, I don't turn around and send out a discount to the list again. I figure that, if someone just got a discount a few hours ago, they probably don't want to get another discount. I'm just trying to cut down the amount of emails heading out. :)

Answer

Me personally, I have no issues with it as long as their is some sort of gaming product on it or if its a huge DVD set.

If you send me a share the love with 10 rap CDs and no game products I'm going to hunt you down and hurt you. :p

I sent out the Firefly collection. No-one has complained yet. :)

And I'm not complaining about the Star Wars collection that got sent out. (At least, until I see all the changes Lucas has made. Not that it matters, I haven't seen the original unrevised versions in over 15 years or so, so I don't remember them...)
