FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MIAMI – Paradigm Concepts, publisher of the award-winning “Arcanis: the World of Shattered Empires” roleplaying game line, announced the forthcoming “Shattered Empires: Roleplaying in the World of Arcanis Quicklaunch” today. The Shattered Empires design team has determined that the game system is robust and dynamic for low levels of play, but that there has not been enough opportunity for higher level play testing. In keeping with the company’s philosophy of customers and quality-first, Paradigm Concepts’ management has elected to delay the release of the “Shattered Empires: Roleplaying in the World of Arcanis” core rulebook until June 2011, to coincide with the Origins Games Fair. The 2011 release will be a complete title and include the beginning level material found in the 2010 product.

Instead, Paradigm shall release a Quicklaunch version of the Shattered Empires RPG system in a smaller format to accommodate beginning level play. The Quicklaunch version will be an affordable soft cover version available at Origins 2010, and for store and home order shortly thereafter. Providing everything needed for the early aspects of the game, this release will contain all of the rules needed for more than a year’s worth of expected play.

“Our fans deserve the best product we can provide,” said Paradigm Concepts’ President Henry Lopez, “to do anything else would be a disservice, and PCI would never do that to our friends and customers.”

With the recent creative success of RPGs pursuing this measured process, Paradigm Concepts is confident that the design team’s decade-long emphasis on story-first authorship will remain well-received.

“Arcanis is a world of epic tales and legendary figures, including the heroes created by the thousands of players that bring every adventure to life,” said core rules designer and Paradigm VP Eric Wiener, “this abridged version of the core rulebook provides us with the opportunity to weave these tales as soon as possible. “

“Shattered Empires: Roleplaying in the World of Arcanis – Quicklaunch” will be available on June 24th, 2010 at the Origins Games Fair in Columbus, Ohio. This book should be 160 pages and cost $24.99. This release will provide for the launch of the “Chronicles of the Shattered Empires”campaign, the inheritor to the wildly-successful “Living Arcanis” interactive roleplaying campaign.

Could we perhaps get a clearer definition of 'lower levels'. To be honest Im not even sure of the leveling progression with the new system. Are we looking at a standard 20 level progression or something much different?

Everything else sounds damn tasty though.

I recommend that everyone else check out the Chronicles when it debut's at origin.

The game doesn't have levels in the d20 sense. But there is an advancement progression of ranks and tiers. Each time you earn enough experience to "rank up" you may make a small improvement to your character, after 10 such rank you advance your character's tier. Some advancements are limited by tier, and some may only be chosen a certain number of times within a given tier.
This title will cover the first tier of play, which represents a fair amount of adventuring.
