WotC Shawn Merwin joins Wizards as contract game designer

I agree, but Dael has very strong opinions on how D&D should be designed. I don't think she'd last. 😂
She's also Australian IIRC, and I don't see why anyone would voluntarily move from AU to the US. She has done some promo work for MCDM (mostly in the forms of Q&As with staff but she was also a player in their playthrough of the Delian Tomb) though.

I don't know the ins and outs of how WotC manages its staff, but writing can theoretically be done from anywhere, and she's clearly more than comfortable with video conferencing, etc.

But I am also a very "if the work product is good, I don't care when/where you clock in" kind of guy.

Also it looks like he's in NY if my googlefu is accurate. if taking the job involves moving to Washington where wotc is it makes sense that some level of stability rising high enough to qualify for a standard one year lease be worked out if nothing else.
Nothing says it can't roll 1 year contract to perm or for it to just keep getting renewed
I don't think he has to move. I'm assuming that he's working from home. Merwin said on his podcast he can also continue to do other contract work, as long as it doesn't interfere. He doesn't have to leave "Mastering Dungeons" or "The Eldritch Lore Cast." But, for sure, contract could roll over.

His wife is a school teacher, so I doubt he is looking to pull up stakes and move at his stage of life.
