I think you guys were pretty far past 'Ouchie' country...

Amazed you got away with 'only' a dead familiar and animal companion!

Firestorm just isn't friendly and I can't imagine the follow up was any better.

at one point in the jaunt my PC was grappled and dying (-3 hp)...

the Dwarf saved my butt by killing the thing grappling me.... 50% of hitting me..50% of hitting the undead... twice he hit.... both times it was the undead... and it was destroyed.

either hit by the dwarf would've killed me...

Was the dwarf using a ranged weapon? When using melee weapons there's no chance of hitting the wrong target in a grapple.

i suck at the rules... and apparently ... so does Olgar Shiverstone ;)

nope. he was using a reach weapon. a bohemian ear spoon iirc.

it was more fun.. waiting to see if he killed me or the undead.

Fextor would resent that implication. He isn't bohemian.

It was a guisarme. Which he uses for reach and his Improved Trip feat.

Abyssal Ghouls were the brutes we were facing and they were tougher w/o a cleric. (Abysmal Ghouls as Fextor's friend Sully the gnome sorcerer calls them
Our team's abilities lend towards the higher CR drow we faced. Which is good, but we still need healing.
Remind me not to grapple again with a 5 Wis. Apparently +20 won't be enough to fend off the ability drain.

The spell description says you keep your original mental stats, but if you're immune to drain it might arguably 'supress' the loss until the spell wears off... Not much help if you don't have Polymorph and it does seem a bit nebulous.

I'm afraid there isn't much argument for that. That's like saying, "I just Polymorphed into a creature with Damage Reduction, so most of that damage I took last battle is suppressed until the spell wears off."
