D&D 5E Should 5E have Healing Surges?

Would you like to see Healing Surges in the next edition of D&D?

Well this thread is kind of done.

But anyway my take: Keep Second Wind (SWSE did it right) but ditch healing surges.

In the end healing surges became more and more like mana points: Spend surge to activate your magic items, extra damage from your powers, or do rituals like knock. And I don't want to see that kind of thing happen again. Mostly because I hate mana points.

I could see a rules system where all wounds are healed automatically after combat if you are still alive after combat ends. With perhaps the requirement that you have bandages, water, and five minutes available.

I'm ok with that.

But Healling surges added too much complexity for my taste. It was another resource to calculate, different for different classes. It added mandatory feats for tanking classes. It just seemed artificial and painful.
