Showdown in the Forgotten Ruins

(OOC: I don't think we have anyone with ranks in Climb, though I could be proved wrong. Otherwise, it is worth noting that Cade is a halfling with relatively high Str, so the halfling Climb bonus + Str bonus = good enough at climbing if the DC is ~15)

OOC: Cade has a +9 with several ranks in Climb :) He'll have it higher if you give him XP to level :p

"If someone can hold the rope, I can lead the way and secure it as we go down," Cade says.

"Eskon, give me a hand holdin this rope. Together we should manage." After Eskon (or someone else) lends Fincdoram a hand he says to Case "Got everything you need? Pitons? Hammer? Light"?"

(OOC: Alright, Findoram seems to have the plan, so B4cchus, explain the implementation you're choosing in detail so that I know how many climb checks to make for each person)

OOC: With enough rope, we should be able to have a climber on each end. One below, pulling the rope down, one at the top, securing the rope, and the others in between. The top man will remove a Piton, climb down, and secure the rope, then pass down the Piton to the bottom man, who can climb down farther and set up the botom of the rope. Meanwhile, everyone else can climb between the Pitons and hold on while the rope moves. At least that's the theory I'm thinking about. I've no real experience climbing.

As far as i know we only have 1 length of 50' so i'm going to create a plan off of that knowledge.

Ok, so the plan is:
step 1: Hammer a piton (piton A)on the top of the ledge.
step 2: let 1 person 20 feet down where he hammers 4 pitons (pitons b) in the wall.
step 3: let n-2 people down who all secure themselves to pitons b.
step 4: the remaining person retrievesthe top piton and climbs down to pitons b whilst he is tied to the rope and the rope is tied to one of the pitons b.

then we come to the repetative part

step 5: lower 1 person 20' down where he rams 4 pitons in the wall (pitons c)
step 6: belay n-2 people down to pitons c where they secure themselves to pitons c.
step 7: the remaining person retrieves (4) pitons b and climbs down to pitons c whilst he is tied to the rope and the rope is tied to one of the pitons c
goto step 5.

-edit:
I only took 20 feet step so that there is enough rope left to tie everybody to the rope where needed. This distance can be higher is less rope is proven to be needed or vise versa.

-edit2: the advantage of this method is that only 1 person has to be macking climb checks. The downside is that it's much slower.

(OOC: Will you be taking 20 on all the Use Rope checks involved? I assume so since a failure may spell death, but that will be slow going (2 minutes per tying), and it will probably last long enough to fatigue. Just let me know)

OOC: Probably. The good news is that one end can be tied by any multitude of people, so only Cade is the hard working one. Alton will have to be left up here for now. Poor guy.
