Silence Spell

Wizards & others should invest in a small lock-box to store such annoying coins within. (Emanations can't go around corners, ya see...)

Hmmmm - So can someone cast silence on a coin glued
to the bottom of a scroll tube and get a "cone of silence"
effect - Or, once the tube is opened, "life of effect" is
opened and the rest of the tube does not count as a "corner".
How thick must a corner be to, er, be a corner?

Oh, it works just fine...

... for a wizard or cleric.

But one of the conditions for a spell you can cast in a grapple is that it can't have a casting time greater than a standard action. And when a sorcerer casts a Still spell, it has a casting time greater than a standard action...

Has it always been that way? Another thing I have been playing wrong. I don't know how much I like sorcerer's not being able to blast away while grappled. I think I might make a house rule that using metamagic is only a standard action for a sorcerer. The game is supposed to be fun and its enough of an advantage for a wizard to have a far greater spell selection.

The 3.5 spells I find with no Vocal components are:

Gaseous form
Glibness (!)
Hide from Animals
Mislead

And that's it.

For a mere 3,000 gp the 3.5 e wizard can protect himself against this kind of occurrance, by purchasing a lesser metamagic rod of silence.

The same condition was there in 3E, yeah.

And the same sentence was quoted in that discussion some months ago more than once. But some people insisted on a difference between sonic attacks and sonic damage. Silly, if you ask me, but that didn't persuade anyone.

Buh?

So if I had a spell that protects against acid attacks... it wouldn't protect against acid damage? :-\

If your PC was 18th level and the NPC was some piddly 3rd leveller with an 'alkali' spell, yup. At least that was the argument. :)

Wow. I bet Protection from Evil versus Dominate Monster really ticks them off.

Damn, Quicken Spell and Still Spell not real effective for a Sorcerer. One of the only reasons to take Still Spell was to be able to cast while grappled. That's a shame.
