Silly little question about WP/VP

I'm sold on the WP/VP system. I frickin' love it. Now I have a silly little question. (Two, actually ;) )

1. My understanding of the WP/VP system is that VP essentially functions like hit points, and when VP are all gone, the character starts losing WP, which are equal to his/her CON score. In addition, critical hits go DIRECTLY to WP. So if a character's WP are, say, 10, and he takes a critical hit from a shotgun (ouch), suddenly he's subtracting 4d6 (or whatever a crit from a shotgun would be :) ) from 10. When WP get to 0, he's disabled, can only take a partial action; when he's a -1, he's dying, just as with the hit point system.

Here's question #1: is my rambling explanation correct? Is there anything I'm missing?

2. If I'm using the WP/VP system, do I also use subdual damage? Or do VP serve the same function as subdual damage? If so, what happens to unarmed strikes, damage from fatigue, feats that affect subdual damage, etc? (I'm thinking of D20 Modern as well as D&D here).

thanks in advance!

1. Crit damage is applied directly to WP but is not multiplied. If a shotgun normally does 2d8 damage, a critical hit from a shotgun also does 2d8 damage. Because of this, weapons with a crit multiplier of x3 or x4 need to be modified by increasing their threat range. For example, axes go from (20/x3) to (19-20/x1). Swords go from (19-20/x2) to (19-20/x1).

2. Subdual damage doesn't change as I recall.

The Unearthed Arcana version (also the Star Wars Original Core Rulebook) doesn't have negative hit points. The Star Wars Revised Core Rulebook version (also the Spycraft Espionage Handbook) does have negative hit points and is treated the same as those in D&D 3.x core rules.

There is no distinction between normal/lethal damage and subdual/nonlethal damage when using the VP/WP System, though I have seen a variation where unarmed strikes does not crit unless you have a martial arts feat.

Since Wound/Vitality wasn't a complete system, I feel I am compelled to answer some of their missing details (or contradict their silly ones). I admit I do not have the book with me, but from what I remember:

Negatives never happen. You're simply at 0.
Subdual damage is just as lethal as lethal damage. Silly, no?

I personally treat 0 VP as unconscious, 0 WP as disabled or dying (upon "dying" you lose all VP). And subdual damage cannot cause wound damage. This covers subdual damage knocking you out, but not being lethal. If you like that idea, I've got tons more. :)
