It's been a long time since I sat through a commercial break. Even back in the day, before I cut the cord and went full streaming, I'd record programmes rather than watching them live so I could skip the ads.

Seems like a good time to do some browsing on the ol' smartphone. Catch up on your social media of choice, listen to a few minutes of a podcast, maybe browse these very forums.

There’s an old, simple dice game called “Mason”. The name is derived from building characters via dice rolls. It can be played solitaire or against others.

HOW TO PLAY:
1) Roll 6d6.
2) Tally the number of rolls of 4-6, setting aside any d6 results of 1-3. You get 1 point for every die that rolled over 4.
3) Reroll only those die that rolled over 4, repeating the method of Step 2.
4) Keep repeating Steps 2 & 3 until no die roll is over 4, then total your points.
5) Higher point totals are better.

PLAY EXAMPLE:
Roll #1 Die results: 2, 5, 6, 4, 1, 3; Total points: 3
Roll #2 Die results: 6, 5, 6; Total points: 6
Roll #3 Die results: 1, 1, 4; Total points: 7
Roll #4 Die results: 4; Total points: 8
Roll #5 Die results: 5; Total points: 9
Roll #6 Die results: 4; Total points: 10
Roll #7 Die results: 2; Total points: 10. GAME OVER
