Simulacrum

Lord Ben

First Post
How does this work exactly? I can figure it out for a fighter or something, but what about special abilities? If I have a 20hd monster and I get 60% of their stats do I figure it as a 12hd monster? What about non-standard abilities?

I'd like to have a Great Wyrm Simulacrum. How do abilities based on age categories work? Anyone have an example?

This spell leaves a lot up to DM interpretation. If the base race is not overly powerful (take a human for example), then I would say you have a 60% (for simplicity) of the character's levels. Using this, take that 20th level wizard, have him cast simulacrum, and he'll produce a version of himself at 12th level. Take away anything he gained from 13th - 20th level (except stat increases).

For monsters it is a bit tougher. There are no good guidelines for this, so you'll have to judge for yourself what 60% of the monster really is.

Later!

Lord Ben - good luck... :)

D&D doesn't like chopping up things in any logical sense of the word...

You could do that...

Or say 60% of the total XP of the character is involved...
Or that the character has been 40% level drained...

Lets not think about doing a multiclass character simalcrum...
(rogue 2 wizard 16 could be a real pain in the butt) :)
