Simulationist Question on PoL

One example of a PoL setting I'm surprised I haven't seen mentioned in any of the PoL threads, is the movie "The 13th Warrior".

You have a small/medium sized village, barely eking out and existence in the far northern wilderness. The "king" and his subjects have "cleared" out the land surrounding a hill and built a "main/king's hall" on the top. They have very basic homes of mud/wood/thatch. They have a very basic palisade and when trouble does come a calling, they retreat to the main hall.

From imdb.com: "The Wendol, creatures of the Mist, have started attacking their homeland, killing and eating everyone in their way."

Sounds like the bad things in the woods have finally come a calling ... will the PCs answer the call ...

I can't remember the details of the movie, but where there any farmers in this 13th warrior village who worked on farms and produced other necessary goods or was it just a wall, a building and lots of warriors who never eat anything?
If it is the latter one then I found the reason why it is a bad example.

Sorry if I sounded grumpy in my last post Jack-of-Tales! I was just slightly tired of arguing the same old points with certain people and it spilled over.

Generally, I agree that it is better to be polite than right, but don't you just wish occasionally that people would come to these boards wanting to learn rather than just to speak?

I mis-read you post that's why I thought the source sounded wrong; I was thinking in Imperial measurements. Sorry old horse.

Btw, 13th warrior was a great movie. But i can't recall any specifics as to whether it was a good example or not
From what I remember, the 13th Warrior village had surrounding farmsteads. They werent all in the village proper. The raiders started small by picking off the isolated bits first. One of the key points of the movie were the warriors going to a raided area to gather clues and provoke an attack from them.
