Single player playtest report.

Another thing: correct me if I'm wrong, but I BELIEVE that any time a power says 'weapon', it can be applied to unarmed attacks. So she could've used her fists to beat down goblins.

Nice game!

This place WAS tough for a single player. If nothing else, her gaining a full level in there (even with a little leeway) indicates it was pretty brutal. One level in 5 encounters is about twice the expected speed of one level in 10 encounters.

Yeah, I pointed that out to her, but she preferred the 1d12 of her greataxe to her 1d4 fists. :-P

She ended up going down, but made her save against death and was able to use a second wind to get up. This was a pretty tough fight, but not as tough as the final battle.

Was this a special rule for single player play?

You can't take actions while you are unconscious, so you normally can't take your second wind after you hit 0 hp...

I misspoke. She rolled a 20 on her death save.

Thanks for positing this!

I am getting ready to run a solo game for 13 year old son and I've come up with a couple of rules that will help him along.

Second Wind Solo House Rule
Heroic Tier Second Wind Recharge- :6:
Paragon Tier Second Wind Recharge- :5: :6:
Epic Tier Second Wind Recharge :4: :5: :6:

I am giving him an additional action point and allowing them to be recharged 1 after reach encounter.

There used to be a rule, which I don't believe made it into the final product, that if you rolled a 20 on your death save you not only stabilized, you got to activate a healing surge and jump back into combat. Personally, I think I might retain that rule.
