Skele-mals, or statting out animals that are now animated skeletons

Now, I think this is pretty simple to layer onto any beast. Give them the same resistances and immunities as a Skeleton. Maybe reduce their speed by 5 feet for that stumbly-bumbly feeling.

What other changes would you make/use for a skele-mal template?


I'm away from book right now or this may be a fully thought out idea, but I had bus inspiration to have a PC's pet that was killed in falling roof trap be animated by the Necromancer that the group is trying to defeat.

One thing to remember are skeletal animals wont have access to attacks created by internal systems, or claw attacks.

While they can retain their teeth in skeleton form their nails are most likely to have fallen out when they lost their skin, removing their claws. Also poison wont remain because it requires internal organs to create, so overall skeletal forms can be given the undead template of a skeleton, perhaps alter the animal's statistics as well and consider how it would deal damage as an undead shambling monster. (Skeletal horses, for example, can be assumed to have the same damage output but a Bear is likely to lose it's claw attacks, reduced to bludgeoning paw attacks instead.
