Skills that suck.

I see Forgery and Appraise as skills that need to exist, but not necessarily for PCs. Like Profession: Sailer or Craft: Leatherworking. They're something for NPCs to put ranks in, and then the PCs can pay them to do forgeries or appraise items.

I've had more PCs with Craft (leatherworking) than Forgery.

My sorcereress character spent all her early skill points this way:

1 on concentration
1 on Profession(cook)
2 (cross class) on Intimidate

- the only change that was good for her in 3.5e was that it made one Cha skill a class skill, and the DM was happy to allow this to be "intimidate" instead of "bluff" and give me extra skill points back. yay.

(when other people asked her what she did, she always said "I'm a cook". It is only now that she is 11th level that she is starting to think of herself as primarily a sorcerer rather than primarily a cook)

Just thought of a better idea:

All Attributes Have a Corresponding Save

1)
Brawn + Strength
Reflex + Dexterity
Fortitude + Constitution
Mental + Intellegence
Will + Wisdom
Personal + Charisma

2) Each former skill is now a adjucated by a saving throw. (Move silently is a reflex save, spot is a will save.)

3) Each class has an expanded saving throw chart, as follows:

Good Brawn
barbarian, druid, fighter, monk, paladin, ranger, rogue

Good Reflex
bard, monk, ranger, rogue

Good Fortitude
barbarian, cleric, druid, fighter, monk, paladin, ranger

Good Mental
bard, rogue, sorcerer, wizard

Good Will
bard, cleric, druid, rogue, sorcerer, wizard

Good Personal
bard, cleric, paladin, rogue, sorcerer

4) Magic items that increase skills are removed. Cloaks of Resistance are removed. Magic items that grant a bonus to saves now cost 1000*(bonus squared) for one saving throw. (A +2 bonus to Will saves costs 4000gp.)

5) Skill increasing feats are removed. +2 Brawn, Mental, and Personal feats added.

6) Spells and abilities can now target the three new saves. (Maze might require a Mental save, Fear might require a personal save. Breaking down a door is a Brawn save.)
