Breakstone

First Post
Hullo!

I'm planning on running a number of Skirmishes in a chat room.

By Skirmish, I mean the following:

Each player will play a 2nd level character. I will group them into parties of 4. The monster (or NPC, or whatever) that you will fight will be identified, and you, as a party, will have a limited time to prepare.

The party will then fight the monster/npc/characters.

Those who survive will level up immediately, and will be able to fight in the next skirmish.

I figure, for those of us who rarely get to play D&D it'll be a nice break.

If you're interested in playing, make a 2nd level character following the base PHB rules. You may also play as a tiefling, aasimar, orc, goblin, or kobold.

Also, either print out or re-draw this battlemat. This is the map that we will be playing on. Be sure to have miniatures or pennies or something ready to represent the different monsters and characters.

Is anyone interested?

Why don't you post a notice in the general forum as well, linking to this one and explaining what you want - the general forum gets more traffic and you are more likely to get takers there.

I would play but I don't have the time.

Tsunami!
Glad to see you're wanting to arrange some gaming again.
I still remember your aborted Play-by-Post adventure fondly. *mourns Melvos, the shield-bashing paladin*

I think your idea is grand, and would like to sign up.
But I onoly found out about it because Sollir pointed me over here - there's no way i venture into Fight Club, since I don;t play YB!
I always thought it was a bad idea to sequester anything other than YB in the Fight Club forum.
Post in General Discusiion maybe, but definately in the In-Character forum, and provide a link over here

Good idea, reapersaurus. I too liked that Paladin.

Post your character's stats in the format that this character is posted:

Iago, Male Halfling Rogue1: CR 1; Small Humanoid (halfling) (3 ft. tall); HD 1d6+1; hp 7; Init +3; Spd 20 ft.; AC 17 (touch 14, flat-footed 14); Atk +3 melee (1d6+1/crit 19-20, short sword) or +4 ranged (1d8/crit 19-20, light crossbow); SA sneak attack +1d6; SQ halfling traits; AL CG; SV Fort +1, Ref +3, Will +0; Str 12, Dex 16, Con 13, Int 11, Wis 11, Cha 11.

Skills: Bluff +4, Climb +3, Hide +11, Jump +3, Listen +6, Move Silently +9, Pick Pockets +7, Ride +5, Spot +4, Tumble +7. Feats: Weapon Focus (short sword).

Possessions: Masterwork studded leather, short sword, light crossbow with 20 bolts, pouch with 4 gp and 15 sp.

Description/History: Iago was once the sidekick of a powerful adventurer, who died in a fatal trap. Iago has slick black hair and a wide white grin.

only problem i thought of - since the only criteria to moving on to the next round is surviving, will that make people want to make "in-the-back" fighters?

or i guess thew whole party moves on to face the next one - i see.

So all you need to start is 4 people, right?
then maybe another 4 can come along once the survivors are determined....

To keep things simple, we will only be using the three core rulebooks, the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master Guide, and Monster Manual.

No offense anyone, but please only post if you're interested, have a suggestion or question, or have a character.

Posts like creamstake's get my hopes up...

At what time are the fights going to happen? I, for example, am at GMT +2 time zone, so there's a big chance that it's going to be a night game (not that that matters, I mostly stay up through the night anyway).
