He’d been preying on prostitutes for nine months. Several of the working girls had disappeared, but girls came and went so no one suspected what was really happening until the first body was found a few weeks later. She’d been dismembered and entombed inside an oil drum when the kids had found her. Three more, all dismembered and wrapped in heavy plastic tarps sealed with duct tape, turned up in dumpsters after that. Four bodies and sixteen missing girls unaccounted for. Time to go to work.

Finding him was easy. The hookers all kept to the same red-light districts where the cops pretended not to notice them plying their trade in exchange for staying out of the nicer areas of the city. So I only had to stake out a couple of streets before I found him. I had been taking pictures of Johns from my hide for six days when one of the girls didn’t come back from her “date”. I started checking dumpsters. I found the body three hours later, still warm and wrapped up in plastic and duct tape like the others. Even better, I had a picture of him with her getting into the car. Naturally the tags were fake, but how many yellow Honda’s are there in the city? I found him on day three.

I mailed him the picture and let him sweat it out for a few days. Then I left the hookers head in his refrigerator while he was at church one Sunday. He bolted after that; holed up in a seedy hotel in the burbs by the airport. I got him coming back from the ice machine. It wasn’t fast, and it certainly wasn’t painless. The police chalked it up to a robbery. But no more girls have gone missing.

The Man Hunter stalks human foes the way that a predator tracks its next meal. He is a modern savage, a ferocious beast that stalks the urban jungle. More than a vigilante, the Man Hunter is ruthless killer who acts out his own murderous impulses by scouring the city for the most heartless and depraved of criminals. Favored targets of a Man Hunter include serial killers, pimps, and crooked cops. While a Man Hunter may sometimes appear to be more animal than human, it is a mistake to discount his intelligence, patience, and ability to plan.

Take back the night.
