SKR's feat points

I just ran across SKR's article about feat points and the idea intrigues me. I was wondering if anyone out there has tried this out and how it worked out for them.

I haven't tried them, but it seems to me that the system would have a similar effect to the 'feats every odd level' variant -- it will increase character power level, giving an average of perhaps 2-3 extra feats over 20 levels.
