If this guy is correct we really are doomed and there is nothing that can be done. There is no way, that what he wants will be agreed to, or if agreed to, be made stick. Aside form the people with a religious belief that they have a duty to incarnate "Rocco's Basilisk" and the like.

I think he envisions more a gray goo scenario but we are screwed either way. And I do not think a world government will help if he is right since I do not believe that assembling massive amounts of compute and training data is the only path to AI. I suspect that there are other ways that we have not looked at because the tech bros are so anxious to get there first and upscaling the compute seems to be the easy option.
