(SL) Ghelspad Atlas Hardcover

More importantly, I was expecting/hoping for more detailed reqional maps embedded in the text and a nice big fold-out (bigger than the gazeteer).

To be honest, I was hoping for that as well. Kinda like the FRCS book. But, I guess we can't have it all. Otherwise, I think the book has fulfilled pretty much all of my expectations -- even though I would have liked to see some more things covered, I wasn't really expecting it to ALL be in there.

Well this will teach me to listen to rambling of a mad Incarnate. :)

As for the maps, I'll make my judgements on them when I get to see the book.

What? I have a Scarred Lands product before Nightfall?

Only by the sheerest of luck my friend. :) I'm sure the SLCS will be in my hands before Game 4 of the Cup Finals. ;) Anyway, I'm also waiting to lay my hands on a copy of Wilderness and Wastelands. Definately something I want very much.

The maps sort of disappointed me. The city maps are nice in that "Forgotten Realms Adventures 2e cities of the heartland" sort of way, but not as functional as I would like. More importantly, I was expecting/hoping for more detailed reqional maps embedded in the text and a nice big fold-out (bigger than the gazeteer).

Hmm...that is the one thing I was wanting from the hardcover. Regional maps, at least of key nations like say Vesh. I'd like to get a feel for how the sheer number of towns and villages are spread across the landscape. Plus I'd like to know eher Lave is. I guess I'll have to wait for a Vesh sourcebook.

The map that was included with the Hardcover isn't the exact same as the one with the Gazetteer. It uses that one as a foundation, adding details where appropriate, such as the location of capitols (yes, including Lave) and the like.

Like I said Dru, I'll make my judgements for myself! :) Still think Wilderness and Wastelands will rock a great deal too! :D

You guys are so lucky. Our SL campaign wrapped up last month. We'll be playing Star Wars d20 for the summer and might pick up our old characters in the fall. An entire summer with no SL fix. And I just know all these new SL products are really cool.

Are there more city supplements coming out? Holy Bovine will probably shift us from our former stomping grounds of Vengaurak Vale and Khirdet if he does pick it up again (or we don't start with new PCs). Hollowfaust looks cool, but our PCs were mostly goody two shoes do-gooders. It'd give my cleric itchy holy symbol fingers to be in a city of necromancers.:)

Well, my copies of the Hardcover & Forsaken arrived today :D Havent had time to read much of the HC yet but I can make a few comments about what I've seen.

Maps...as always it is indeed the weakest part of the SL line. And given my predeliction for maps, it does hold substantial weight in my overall opinion of the work.

Other than that it seems (without actually reading through it) to be on par with the Kalamar book. There are a few things in the Kalamar book (like the population migration stuff), but given the setup of SL it probably isnt suitable to have details like that.

Now all I need is some time to digest it all.
