Slavery [My player's stay out !]

As far as societies in my campaign-world go; the great majority of societies have slavery, regarded as a fact of life in most areas. Some religions & philosophies disapprove of it to greater or lesser extent, and these are mostly of LG alignment - Thrinism, Northwoods Chrisism, Imgart Ukkoism. These areas all have feudal societies with little economic need for slavery. By contrast the 'democratic' (in the Athenian sense) NG/C creed of Cartheanism is primarily urban & non-feudal and has no problem with slavery at all. Most of the slaveholding societies IMC are essentially Neutral, whether civilised or barbarian. To be counted as Evil the society (human or nonhuman) has to be dedicated to an evil creed, typically an evil god that advocates genocide, human sacrifice, extreme oppression of a particular race, gender, religion, etc.

Wow. GREAT insight from everyone.

THANKS !

My city is ruled by a council of seven, elected by 40-some senators. There are no single leading figure, although one member of the senate is very wealthy and powerful, and evil, a 19th level sorceror living on an estate bigger than the council palace. He will probably become my BBEG, having planned a few intrigues originated by him (although my players will probably not know this beforel long).

Slavery will be quite comon, there is a huge slave market. The main religion is Olidammara, for it's aspect regarding partying and wine and women (parties and orgies will be comon amongst the wealthy). The noble estates take at least half the superficy of the city, with other wards being much poorer. There is a huge arena with lethal gladiatorial games, administered by a Grey Slaad in human form (my BBEG put him there, only him knows his true nature).

Although not an evil-aligned city per se, evil will be common in intrigues and assassination plots (there are no assassins IMC, but a race of evil elves (NOT drow) that I made with Monk as their choosen class).

Yup. That's going to work.

Once again, thanks for all the input guys !
