Slaves of the Dragon (orsal judging)

(You set out at noon, so it's evening now)

"Felden has only really been attractive to visitors cause it's on the way to Grenton, and they don't buy much these days. Had some bad years and can't afford not much, I've heard. So, fewer people pass through, less need for an inn. Wasn't worth to keep it up, Keith said."

"Keith? Well, okay." Farid looks over at the other two, "I... think we c'n stay th' night and have a bi' of food. We should be out fairly early, though, and coming back in a day or two."

I do enjoy these wide open spaces, Thanyvan says after inhaling deeply. And the hospitality is wonderful, too. Though I will most likely not be cooped up in a stuffy four-walled room, iff'n I can help it. I'll pass my night under the stars, with Tyrr to keep me company.
Thnayvan waits for the others to figure out some resting/sleeping arrangements adn then will proceed to (near the building where the others will be) bed down for the night. Tyr will stand watch through the night as she dozed on Than's shoulder for most of the trip here.

"Well, Thanyvan," Farid leans, "Maybe you could give some of these people some coin in exchange for some food? I'm sure at least one of the ladies here can make a mighty fine stew."

Planus Elf Cleric 1

Eyeing the angle of the sun, Planus says, "Perhaps we could make it another few miles before full dark after stopping here for a bit of a meal. Have you any news from along the river to the south? We are traveling that direction in search of an artifact sacred to Mongrel. Well, we think its in that direction. You know how Mongrel is. He gave us a sign to go that direction and I'm sure he'll give us a sign if we are supposed to turn."

Planus thinks, A dwarf, elf and halfling who wants to sleep outside show up in a town. That's bound to start rumors. Might as well make them think we are crazy.

Planus hands over a 2 gold pieces (deducted from sheet) for their dinner and also asks, "We stopped by your town because I was hoping to acquire a couple of sunrods for the journey, though given that your town is little more than a wide spot in the road, you may not have any. Are there some for sale?" This question is mostly cover, but if they do produce some sunrods, Planus will buy two.

During dinner, Planus tells stories of his many adventures, like the time he defeated a were-wolf! no a wolverine! no a were-wolverine! in single combat. And the other time he shot an ettercap straight in the eye from 50 paces. To this last, he adds, "You can ask Rika, she was there!"

If there are any injured children or stray animals that appear in need of healing, Planus will use cure minor/light wounds as appropriate to aid them.

OOC: Bluff +4 if needed.
If I'm reading correctly, clerics do not need 8 hours of sleep in order to renew their spells each day. Assuming that is right, Planus will always volunteer to trance for the first 4 hours and then be awake the remainder of the night.

During the meal, Farid enjoys Planus' stories and laughs in excitement every time the stories get more intense. "You made an ettercap into a cyclops? Hah, wonderful!"

OOC: Where in the SRD does it say you don't need sleep? I mean as an Elf, not as a Cleric. Wouldn't you be fatigued or something? Farid will offer to stay awake during the darkest parts of the night, since he can see pretty well during then.

(It's not in the SRD, but elves only need 4 hours of trance to gain the benefit of 8 hours of sleep, except for purposes of spell preparation (and maybe a few other things I'm forgetting). Clerics don't need the rest, IIRC, but they prepare spells at specific times (or add them later))

"Your southbound, for now? Well, there was this one hunter, who claims that a worg pack tortures animals down there, and done so for a few years now. Dunno what to make of that. Also claimed he's seen a different worg some years ago entering that festering pit Lathirn. Strange guy, why would a worg enter a city, even if it is so bad as Lathirn?"

"Sunrods?" - "You know, those alchemical things that create light" - "Ah, yes, those things. No, sorry, but we don't have no sunrods. We've got torches, after all." The man says, almost proudly.

As Planus, seeing that the people all appear to be in good health, unfolds and weaves his stories the villagers go ooh and aah, with laughter and gasps, unsure if they should believe the tales this man brings. After all, he claimed to be on a quest inspired by the Stray Dog, and what if he wanted to lead them "astray?"

Night comes fast, and it a quiet one. Nothing seems to be out of the ordinary in this tiny place. As the sun rises, you are awakened (except for those who didn't sleep) by the sound of the villagers going to their work, mostly on the fields.

(Okay, I didn't know how closely we were following the SRD)

Waking, Farid sits up. "Everyone awake now? We should get on our way out, now. A bite to eat beforehand could be in order, but I could go either way." He brushes off himself and stands up to ready himself for the day.

Thanyvan strolls in from the colorful dawn outside and smailes up at his travelling companions.

Ahhh... A night spent in the fresh air. Phyrah has blessed us with this day, let's get back on the road, I say.

Tyrr is hooting contentedly from his shoulder, eyes whirling with excitement.

As they leave the town to report back, Planus gives a wave to the towns folk and shouts, "Have fun digging holes and filling them back in!" He shakes his head and glances at his companions while rolling his eyes, "humans".
